Economy and ecology play a major role in heating system technology. While pressure and temperature sensors and thermostats are used in control technology, on-site monitoring is carried out using indicator instruments. Remote measuring instruments are also occasionally required. Use in closed heating circuit systems usually requires only low corrosion resistance. However, if inhibitors such as sulphite-containing additives are used, this must be specifically taken into account when selecting the product. The nominal pressure is around 6 bar and only rarely exceeds 16 bar.
JAKO Thermometers, flue gas testers, pressure gauges, sensors as well as mounting and installation parts such as protective sleeves are considered to be particularly price-efficient and reliable in heating system technology.
JAKO is therefore also a partner of many device and appliance manufacturers. The measuring devices are then supplied with individual imprints. Even small series from 100 pieces can be produced with the JAKO manufacturing process.

Both pressure and temperature must be regulated and monitored and controlled directly on site at several points in the air duct or refrigeration circuit. When selecting the measuring instruments, particular attention must be paid to the choice of material. The refrigerant used, the flow rate, the medium density or, for example, the required installation depth and fastening type of the protective sleeve must be taken into account.
JAKO air duct thermometers as well as high-quality measuring instruments and mounting and installation parts made of high-quality stainless steel, e.g. 1.4571, 1.4301, ensure long-lasting and reliable operation.

The pressure and temperature in the lines of refrigeration units are measured. However, the function of the fan motor or the expansion valve is also monitored, as is the filter function or the temperature in the cold room. Large refrigeration systems in particular are very often operated with a (H)CFC / HFC refrigerant. In this case, all parts in contact with the medium must be made of high-quality stainless steel (e.g. 1.4571, 1.4301) and the right choice of seal material is also important, e.g. NBR (acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber): NBR (acrylonitrile butadiene rubber) or FPM (fluoropropylene rubber) is also very important for reliable operation.
JAKO offers a wide variety of specific device designs for use in refrigeration technology. Refrigerant-specific special scales, screw-in, weld-in and flange protective sleeves in accordance with EN 43 772 or dial pressure gauges for low or high pressure ranges with or without signal transmitters are part of the wide range of JAKO products with which customized solutions can be implemented.
JAKO with its calibration and verification service, is also the partner of refrigeration system manufacturers and operators when it comes to meeting legal requirements for the use of calibrated pressure gauges in refrigeration systems.

In addition to traditional energy generation in large power plants (coal, nuclear, hydro), peak load power plants (e.g. gas turbine power plants) and decentralized and regional energy generation plants such as biogas plants and wind turbines, the generation of renewable energy is of great importance for future electricity and heat generation worldwide. Pressure and temperature measurement technology, both as part of control technology with pressure sensors and temperature sensors, but also conventional and energy supply-independent and always reliable measurement with pointer instruments, is used in a wide range of applications in this field.
The JAKO product range has the right solution for every measuring task and can provide the required device design in accordance with applicable standards such as ATEX or SIL, depending on the operating environment in protected, unprotected and also potentially explosive operating environments. The ATEX(ATmosphère EXplosible) directive of the European Union stands for requirements for devices in potentially explosive atmospheres and SIL for Safety Integrity Level, a measure of functional safety, standardized by the IEC 61508 standard (functional safety in general) and the IEC 61511 standard (functional safety in the process industry).

Austria’s nationwide water supply with the highest drinking water quality has a long tradition and enjoys a worldwide reputation. In 1873, the Vienna High Spring Water Pipeline was completed and put into operation as Europe’s largest water pipeline as part of the World Exhibition at the time. Just as traditional for JAKO is just as traditional for JAKO as the field of application for pressure and temperature measurement technology in municipal water supply, regardless of the field of application, such as in the extraction of raw water, in the treatment of drinking and process water, or in water storage and water distribution.
JAKO offers a wide range of standard measuring instruments in this area of application in particular and supplies these to many system installers and operators in Germany and abroad. Depending on the application, these are filled with glycerine in order to prevent condensation on the one hand and to enable vibration-stable pointer readings on the other. For oxygen-enriched fresh and drinking water systems JAKO measuring devices as well as attachment and installation parts such as screw-in, weld-in and flange protection sleeves or shut-off valves are manufactured and supplied in high-quality stainless steel.

Pressure and temperature measuring devices are used in the chemical industry in both protected and potentially explosive operating areas. The measuring devices must therefore prove themselves in both aggressive and non-aggressive environments. Strict international directives such as the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC – PED and ATEX(ATmosphère EXplosible) Directive of the European Union define the state of the art for operating conditions and product requirements.
JAKO therefore primarily uses stainless steels for equipment in chemical process engineering. Internationally, the materials 1.4571, 1.4404 and 1.4435 are widely used. In the case of particularly aggressive media, diaphragm seals or diaphragm spring devices are mainly used. But also devices with special materials, e.g.: in Monel 400, Hastelloy or with PTFE coating are part of the extensive JAKO product range. Pointer pressure gauges in compliance with the increased requirements for personal protection in accordance with EN 837-1 are also manufactured and supplied with laminated safety glass, relief opening and break-proof partition wall.
In addition JAKO with its calibration and verification service ensures that the value of the measuring devices remains stable, more legal certainty in cases of legal verification regulations, as well as trustworthy measurement results and a long service life in the demanding environment of the chemical industry.

Many of the JAKO measuring instruments in industrial design already comply with international standards such as the ANSI/NACE standard MR0175 or EN ISO 15 156. These standards describe requirements and recommendations for the selection and qualification of metallic materials for use in oil and gas production facilities and in sour gas treatment plants. Sudden damage to metallic components that have been exposed to media containing H2S should be prevented in oil and gas field applications. However, the requirements for use in potentially explosive operating environments are also of great importance in many cases.
The term Safety Integrity Level (SIL) is defined by the IEC 61508 standard (functional safety in general) and the
The functional safety in the process industry is defined in the IEC 61511 standard (functional safety in the process industry) as a measure of functional safety in the process industry and, at the request of our customers, determined for selected products on the basis of an FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Analysis) and confirmed by JAKO by means of a manufacturer’s declaration (e.g. contact pressure gauges with inductive contacts). The FMEDA is a systematic consideration of the random failure behavior of the individual measuring device components. For this purpose, statistical values of individual components and their functional relationships are assessed together. The result is an average probability of failure (PFDa), hardware fault tolerance (HFT) and the percentage of safe failures (SFF). System planners, installers and operators need this data to determine the functional safety risk of an entire system.
JAKO supplies high-quality and reliable devices in this segment and, with its verification and calibration service, ensures lasting value and a long service life in the demanding environment of the oil and gas industry.
