It's time to look back. JAKO Messtechnik GmbH celebrates its 75th anniversary and the continuation of the company in the 3rd generation.
In the company chronicle of JAKO Messtechnik GmbH you can see an overview of the individual development stages and selected highlights of the measuring device manufacturer, which has been run by the Jakobowitz family since 1949.
It's time to look back. JAKO Messtechnik GmbH celebrates its 75th anniversary and the continuation of the company in the 3rd generation.
JAKO Messtechnik GmbH expands its production and storage space by purchasing the neighboring building, a former print shop. This provides an additional 700 square meters for production and storage. The office space is rented out to partners.
With the purchase of another multifunctional tube processing machine, JAKO Messtechnik GmbH is increasing its production capacities in mechanical production. Tube processing from the coil drastically reduces waste and the all-electric technology saves an enormous amount of energy.
JAKO Messtechnik GmbH is setting new standards in leak detection with an automatic helium leak testing system developed in-house. Helium leak detectors are much more precise than conventional test methods such as the bubble test. Leaks smaller than a bubble test can reveal can be detected with this reliable method.
In 2022, JAKO Messtechnik GmbH will discontinue all previous printing processes and switch completely to the digital printing already offered. This will open up new possibilities for our customers for their own individual presentation.
The company is renamed JAKO Messtechnik GmbH.
In 2015, Thomas Jakobowitz takes over the traditional and family-owned company JAKO as managing partner. Long-term and fair partnerships are still a top priority in the 3rd generation.
The calibration laboratory operated by JAKO for many years is accredited by the Federal Ministry of Economics as a calibration and ÖKD calibration laboratory. The test laboratory is operated independently of the JAKO production company and offers verification and calibration services for pressure measuring devices from all manufacturers, both for individual devices and for entire device groups.
The JAKO brand printing service is extended by a new printing technology. In addition to the offset printing process with the possibility of printing customer-specific logos, graphics or texts in up to 5 colors, black and white matrix inkjet printing for text inscriptions in block letters, JAKO has integrated the Tampo printing process into the production process. With this printing process, dials with a single-color logo and text print can be produced in a short delivery time.
The production of standard brass protective sleeves at JAKO is being automated. The main aim was to develop an environmentally friendly manufacturing process and to minimize the exposure of our employees to harmful substances. When designing the machine, a seamless leak test of the machine-produced brass protective sleeves was also integrated. JAKO standard protective sleeves are therefore only delivered leak-tested.
JAKO celebrates its 50th anniversary as a family-owned company with headquarters in Vienna and as a reliable partner for customers in more than 20 countries (today there are more than 30 countries).
JAKO presents its products to interested trade visitors from the sanitary, heating, air conditioning and ventilation sectors. Aquatherm was just one of many trade fairs in Germany and abroad that JAKO has attended as an exhibitor over the last few decades.
JAKO is the first manufacturer of pressure and temperature measurement technology to be certified according to ISO 9001 in 1995. Since the introduction of the JAKOquality management system have been subject to a constant process of further development and improvement. While at the beginning it was mainly the manufacturing processes, from this moment onwards all company processes are fully integrated.
In 1987, Mr. Helmut Jakobowitz takes over the management of his father's company. His entrepreneurial goal is not growth at any price or the expansion of business activities through company takeovers and joint ventures. Instead, he pursues a corporate strategy based on sustainability and organic growth from his own entrepreneurial activities. Long-term partnerships are more important to him than short-term success. JAKO pursues a completely different growth policy than other market competitors.
Patented in 1987 JAKO patented its own development for the first time. It concerns the design of a mano-thermometer for simultaneous pressure and temperature measurement at one measuring point.
In 1986, the time had come and the business activity had reached a scale that could only be achieved in a JAKO could only be handled efficiently and effectively in a specially planned company building. An administration building with a directly connected production hall and warehouse was erected on the company's own premises in the south of Vienna.
JAKO is honored by the Republic of Austria for its exceptional performance and its leading position as a supplier of high-quality pressure and temperature measurement technology. For us, the right to bear the Austrian national coat of arms is not only an award for our market-leading position, but also a commitment to Austrian quality in international competition.
In 1979, after 3 years of development, the first rotary indexing special machine for the semi-automatic production of compact bimetal thermometers was put into operation. Since this moment JAKO has been constantly developing new automation technologies for product-specific manufacturing and testing processes in order to continuously increase product quality on the one hand, and to be able to compensate, at least in part, for the constantly rising prices due to wage increases under collective agreements, rising energy costs, rising raw material prices or semi-finished parts on the other.
In 1976 the name was changed to JAKO Gesellschaft für Messtechnik GmbH.
In 1970,increasing exports also requiredhigher production capacities and so a new company location was needed. This time, too, the decision was made in favor of a company location in Vienna, in the 2nd district, Untere Augartenstraße 30. At that time, the logistics network was not yet established to the extent that it is today, so it was all the more important for JAKO to maintain its headquarters in the heart of Europe - in Vienna.
JAKO founded a branch in Freilassing in 1965. Greater customer proximity, short delivery times, attractive prices and an outstanding level of service were already the number one driver of expansion back then.
JAKO took part in the Hanover Fair for the first time in 1960. The German market was the target. With the increasing internationalization of the Hannover Messe, more and more contacts were established with international partners. Today, our products are exported to more than 30 countries.
In 1959, Mr. Friedrich Jakobowitz finally took over the company as sole owner. As a trained businessman and master craftsman, he had all the prerequisites to further develop the young company according to his own ideas.
In 1957, the time had come for a move. The company's successful activities as a manufacturer of pressure and temperature measuring instruments required more space for production, storage and administration. A new location was found in Christophgasse, 1050 Vienna.
In 1949, Mr. Friedrich Jakobowitz begins to build up a new business activity in his uncle H. Malouschek's company - the manufacture of pressure gauges and thermometers. Up to this point, the company's main business purpose was the sale and repair of sewing machines.
